Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is thriving under the leadership of the club’s new manager, Arne Slot, saying, ‘This is probably the happiest I’ve ever been’

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is enjoying life under new manager Arne Slot as the team adapts to a “significant shift” in playing style.

The squad is currently training in the U.S. in preparation for three pre-season matches against Arsenal and Manchester United before heading back to Anfield. Jones picked up a muscle injury during the game against Real Betis, though Slot hasn’t provided much information about the severity of the issue.

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has expressed that he’s “probably the happiest I’ve been” as the team adjusts to a new style of play ahead of their pre-season tour in the U.S. Following the 2023/24 season, former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down after eight seasons in charge.

Slot, known for his attacking approach and high-intensity pressing game, shares similarities with Klopp, though the squad is still transitioning to some differences under the new manager’s leadership.

Jones called Slot and his style “amazing”, adding: “It’s probably the happiest I’ve been in terms of a style of play that suits me. It’s a clear plan in training and he’s fully involved, coaching us a lot.“He’s big on the finer details. He’s got a certain way of playing – he knows it will take time as it’s a big change, but him and his staff are chilled about it as they know the quality is all there.”It’s always been a hard time, coming around the team as a young lad and I always had a certain way of playing but I had to adapt and change.

The Reds were defeated 1-0 in Arne Slot’s debut match as manager, a behind-closed-doors friendly against Championship team Preston North End.

However, Liverpool bounced back with a 1-0 win over Real Betis on Friday. They will continue their pre-season preparations with upcoming fixtures against Arsenal, Manchester United, and Sevilla before the Premier League resumes.
