Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is enjoying life under Arne Slot as the team adapts to a “significant change” in playing style with the new manager.
The squad is currently training in the U.S. in preparation for three pre-season matches against Arsenal and Manchester United before heading back to Anfield.
Jones sustained a muscle injury in the game against Real Betis, though Slot has not provided much information about the extent of the injury.
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has expressed that he’s “probably the happiest I’ve been” as the team adapts to a new playing style ahead of their pre-season tour in the U.S. Arne Slot, the former Feyenoord manager, took over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of the 2023/24 season after Klopp concluded his eight-year tenure.
Slot was chosen for his attacking style and high-intensity pressing, which resembles Klopp’s approach, though there will be some differences as the team adjusts to working with their new manager.
Jones described Arne Slot and his playing style as “amazing,” and said, “This is probably the happiest I’ve been in terms of a style of play that suits me. There’s a clear plan in training, and he’s fully engaged, coaching us closely. He’s focused on the finer details and has a specific way of playing. He understands it will take time since it’s a big change, but he and his staff are relaxed, knowing the quality is there.
“It’s always been tough for me, coming into the team as a young player with my own playing style, but I had to adapt and change. That was part of the plan, and I was able to do it. But now, this feels more like me—I can get on the ball more, and I’m excited.”
