Inside Michael Owen’s 20-year-old stable, The Big Kingdom, the former Liverpool star manages over 100 horses, including those belonging to notable figures like Sir Alex Ferguson and Ian Wright

Michael Owen has opened up about his career, stating that he was destined to “score goals and be adored.” The former football star, once considered one of the top strikers in the world, played for renowned clubs such as Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle, and Manchester United during his career.

Although Michael Owen has become a racehorse owner since retiring from football, he admits that nothing compares to the thrill of playing the sport, saying he was born to be a world-class striker.

In an interview with FIVE, Owen shared, “I was put on this Earth to score goals, to be adored by people and sung to. When you’re loved like that and suddenly can’t do it anymore, you need something else to give you that buzz.”

Owen, now passionate about horses, runs Manor House Stables in Cheshire, which is home to more than 100 stallions. His interest in horses began when he was 23, but despite his love for racing, he acknowledged, “The reality is there will never be a buzz like scoring an important goal, especially in the last minute or in a World Cup. That’s what you live for.”

He added, “But I set this [the stables] up ten years before I retired. I wake up every morning loving what I do.”
