After an injury-plagued season, the Belgian star has continued to face new troubles. It is reported that San Diego FC are planning to recruit De Bruyne in the summer, as the former Chelsea star is feeling “tired” of the intense pace of European football.
This season, De Bruyne has only played five times for Manchester City in all competitions and suffered an injury in the 0-0 draw with Inter Milan. This forced Guardiola to make adjustments to adapt to the absence of the top playmaker. However, Man City still maintained an unbeaten streak and played quite well without the presence of this star.
At the press conference before the Champions League match, when asked about the time De Bruyne will be out of action, Guardiola admitted: “I can’t say for sure.”
”When he tells me that he doesn’t feel well, then we will wait. Not a big deal, but De Bruyne is not completely comfortable and he is not young anymore, he is 33 years old. He needs to be in top form to be able to play at the top level.”
