Popular singer and actor Ashanti kicked off Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday with a powerful national anthem performance which left audiences across the country awestruck. The New York Yankees went on to record an 11-4 victory on the night, finally announcing themselves in the Fall Classic and avoiding getting swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
However, before the game even began, New York native Ashanti wowed the stadium with a powerful national anthem performance which captivated the Yankee Stadium crowd.

Ashanti was born in 1980 and brought up by her African American parents in Glen Cove, New York. Her parents discovered her singing potential at a young age and started performing in local shows and small festivals by the time she was in high school.
She gained prominence as a singer in the early 2000s and has since grown into one of the most popular R&B and soul singers of her generation. Apart from a successful singing and acting career, Ashanti is also well-known for being married to rapper Nelly.
After local rapper Fat Joe’s performance in Game 3 of the World Series received much criticism from fans online, Ashanti’s powerful performance in Game 4 was a welcome change.
Born and bred in New York, Ashanti has performed in several sporting events in the city over her career. Moreover, the night ended on a high for New York fans as the Yankees recorded their first win of the series with a convincing performance, leaving fans optimistic.
Ashanti and husband Nelly have a blast while supporting opposite teams in Game 4 of the World Series
Staying true to her roots, Ashanti put on her New York Yankees hat and cheered for her team from the stands after her soulful performance ahead of the game. She was accompanied by her husband, Nelly, who was himself sporting a Los Angeles Dodgers hat and hoodie.
The couple recorded a fun video while watching the game, which is now making the rounds across social media platforms.
While originally from Austin, Texas, Nelly was well known among MLB fans as a St. Louis Cardinals supporter. However, it is clear that he is rooting for the Dodgers in the World Series this year.
