In the first minute of the second half, Gakpo put Liverpool ahead after dribbling and shooting from the edge of the box. Brighton almost equalised shortly after, but Liverpool goalkeeper Jaros made a miraculous save.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 63rd minute and Gakpo followed it up with another decisive strike. The home side pressed on and equalised in the 81st minute with Adingra’s strike.
However, it took Liverpool just 4 minutes to regain a two-goal lead after Diaz’s strike. Brighton did not give up easily and Lamptey brought the second goal back for the home team in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, the few minutes of extra time could not help Brighton find an equalizer.
