Right after the opening whistle, Liverpool and Leverkusen gave fans a spectacular duel.
With the mobility of the trio Salah, Gakpo, Diaz, Liverpool often put pressure with fast ball-playing situations on both wings. It’s just a pity that the “Red Brigade” stars lacked a bit of sharpness in finishing.
On the opposite side, Leverkusen also made Liverpool’s goal shake many times. Even at the end of the first half, Frimpong put the ball into the home team’s net but the goal was disallowed due to offside.
In the second half, the game completely changed when Liverpool increased the speed. In the 61st minute, Diaz opened the score after an assist from Curtis Jones.
Continuing the momentum, in the 63rd minute, Salah “set the table” for Gakpo to help the home team double the gap.
Receiving the “cold water”, Leverkusen’s defense could no longer maintain the same concentration as at the beginning of the match and completely collapsed.
From the 83rd to the 90+2nd minute, Diaz scored 2 goals in a row to complete the hat-trick, at the same time sealing a resounding 4-0 victory for Liverpool.
