“I’m one of the early ones [into training],” he explains, attributing some of this habit to teammate Mohamed Salah’s influence. “A little bit, yeah, in the sense of how good he is – and if he is in the gym before everybody else, then that shows that I’m not doing enough.”
Jones admits that on days he skips, he feels like he hasn’t given his best: “If there’s a day when I’ve come in and I’ve not done it, then I feel like I’ve cheated a little bit, or something isn’t right. So, now it’s an everyday thing.”
As the saying goes, “the early bird catches the worm.” Back in October 2019, Jones experienced an unforgettable moment when he scored the winning penalty in a 5-5 Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal at Anfield.
The night was already memorable, but it became iconic when he entered internet legend—with some credit due to the club’s digital media team.
