The Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool, originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on December 7, has been postponed due to severe weather conditions in Merseyside caused by Storm Darragh.
The storm has brought hazardous winds, reaching speeds of up to 112.65 km/h, and persistent heavy rainfall since Friday night, making it unsafe for spectators.
Following advice from the Liverpool Ground Safety Advisory Council, Everton announced the postponement at 8:30 a.m. local time, in agreement with Liverpool.
Police have also urged members of both clubs to remain indoors until Sunday morning, when the weather is expected to improve.
Given the congested end-of-year calendar, the match may be rescheduled for 2025. This postponement allows Liverpool to skip this round, potentially narrowing their lead to four points.
Meanwhile, Everton gains a chance to rest ahead of their challenging fixtures against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City later this month.
