Arne Slot shares surprising insights into his behavior after the Liverpool manager was issued a touchline ban following the ‘intense’ and ‘frustrating’ 2-2 draw against Fulham

Arne Slot is set to serve a one-match touchline ban following an outburst during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Fulham at Anfield.

The Dutch coach received his third yellow card of the season after reacting angrily to Curtis Jones being booked for a mistimed tackle on Alex Iwobi, drawing boos from the home crowd over the referee’s decision.

The game was fraught with tension, particularly after Liverpool’s Andy Robertson was sent off in the 17th minute for a foul on Harry Wilson, which denied Fulham a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Despite playing with 10 men, Liverpool fought back twice, with Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota equalizing goals from Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz.

“There were moments where I could have been shown a yellow card,” Slot confessed. “It’s a highly emotional game, and playing a man down adds to the frustration. Still, I’m proud of how we performed despite the challenges. Judging calls in real-time, like the referee, is tough. We have to accept VAR decisions, as they’re crucial to the game. The draw wasn’t because of officiating.”

Known for his typically composed demeanor compared to his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, Slot had also been booked in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea and their 2-2 draw with Arsenal in October.

Liverpool’s lead over Chelsea has been trimmed to five points, though Chelsea could further close the gap with a victory over Brentford on Sunday.

However, Chelsea will have played an additional game compared to Liverpool. Arsenal, meanwhile, failed to capitalize, settling for a 0-0 draw with Everton despite dominating at the Emirates.

The game also marked the return of Diogo Jota, who made his first appearance since October following an injury. Jota made an immediate impact, scoring just seven minutes after coming on. Earlier, Pereira had volleyed Fulham into the lead, but Gakpo leveled the score with a brilliant header from a Mohamed Salah cross.
