HARD-FOUGHT SEMIFINAL SPOT: Nunez regains scoring form with the opening goal, Elliott doubles the lead

Liverpool encountered many difficulties in their away match against Southampton, the team at the bottom of the Premier League table.

With many key players remaining, Liverpool started the match quite slowly.

However, the “Red Brigade” still knew how to get 2 goals ahead of the home team Southampton in the first half. Darwin Nunez opened the score in the 24th minute and not long after, Elliott doubled the gap.

In the second half, Southampton found a goal to reduce the score in the 59th minute after an exemplary individual performance by Cameron Archer.

A few minutes later, the home team almost equalized the score if not for an excellent reflex by goalkeeper Kelleher.

In the remaining time, both teams created a few more chances but neither side scored any more goals. With a hard-fought victory, Liverpool qualified for the League Cup semi-finals.
