Salah Ghaly, Mohamed Salah’s father, revealed that the charity project in Nagrig, Bassioun, is now complete and set to open in June. Mohamed Salah, celebrated as a football sensation for both Liverpool and Egypt, has personally funded this initiative. According to Ghaly, the project, costing over 18 million LE, includes the construction of an ambulance service and an Al-Azhar school.
Ghaly emphasized that Salah refused to accept any external financial assistance for the project, opting instead to cover all expenses himself.
While some finishing touches are still being made to the Al-Azhar Institute, it will soon be handed over to the Al-Azhar Directorate in the Gharbiya region. The opening ceremony will feature prominent figures and officials, including Health Minister Hala Zayed and Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb of Al-Azhar.
One of Salah’s aspirations was to establish an Al-Azhar University, driven by his desire to improve the lives of the people in Nagrig, his hometown. His father reminisced about Salah’s dedication to this dream, noting that students previously had to travel significant distances to access Al-Azhar schools in neighboring towns.
Salah continues to personally oversee the growth and impact of the Mohamed Salah Charity Foundation, which is making a meaningful difference in his birthplace.
Beyond his charitable endeavors, Salah remains a revered figure in Egypt and the Arab world, celebrated not only for his football prowess but also for his generosity and community work.
