Salah Ghaly, the father of Mohamed Salah, shared that the charity project in Nagrig, Bassioun, has been completed and is scheduled to open in June.
Mohamed Salah, renowned as a football star for both Liverpool and Egypt, personally financed the entire initiative. Ghaly explained that the project, with an investment exceeding 18 million LE, includes the establishment of an ambulance service and an Al-Azhar school.
Highlighting Salah’s unwavering commitment, Ghaly noted that the footballer declined any external funding, choosing to bear all the costs himself.
While final touches are being applied to the Al-Azhar Institute, it will soon be officially handed over to the Al-Azhar Directorate in the Gharbiya region.
The opening ceremony is expected to host distinguished guests, including Health Minister Hala Zayed and Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb of Al-Azhar.
One of Salah’s long-held goals has been to create an Al-Azhar University, reflecting his dedication to improving life in his hometown of Nagrig.
Ghaly recalled his son’s tireless efforts to fulfill this vision, particularly to address the challenges students once faced, having to travel long distances to attend Al-Azhar schools in neighboring areas.
Salah remains actively involved in overseeing the Mohamed Salah Charity Foundation, which continues to make a significant impact in his hometown.
