Leicester are in pretty bad form with their latest loss to Wolverhampton decided after just the first half. However, Jordan Ayew surprisingly opened the scoring after 6 minutes for the visitors, finishing quite intelligently to beat Alisson.
Liverpool poured forward, but they were quite stuck in front of Leicester’s very crowded defense, combined with the increasingly thick fog. When the opportunity came, luck did not smile on the home team: Robertson headed the ball against the post in the 25th minute, and in the 45th minute Salah curled the ball against the crossbar.
It seemed like the first half would end with Leicester leading, but Cody Gakpo thought otherwise. In the 45+1 minute, he got past James Justin from the left wing before curling the ball into the far corner to level the score at 1-1.
Liverpool continued their attack into the second half and in the 49th minute they took the lead, Jones coming in just in time to tap in from close range from Mac Allister’s cross.
The home team continued to have chances, including a disallowed goal by Gakpo. No problem, Salah, from a not-so-favorable angle, still skillfully placed the ball into the far corner in the 82nd minute, making it 3-1 for the top team. Liverpool are now 7 points ahead of Chelsea and still have a game in hand.
Before entering the match against Leicester, Mohamed Saslah was only 1 goal away from scoring 100 goals at home for Liverpool in the Premier League.
And despite many difficulties, Salah still shined in the end with a goal, sealing a 3-1 victory for Liverpool against Leicester. Thus, with his 100th goal at home in the Premier League in the match against Leicester, Salah became the 8th player to do so.
Before him, the strikers who have been recorded include Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler, Andy Cole, Thierry Henry, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and most recently Harry Kane. However, compared to many of those who have gone before, Salah is somewhat better.
According to Premier League statistics, Salah became the fourth fastest player to reach 100 home goals when he scored against Leicester at Anfield. He is only behind legends Alan Shearer – who took just 91 games to reach that record, Thierry Henry (113 games) and Sergio Aguero (125 games).
