The Globe Soccer Awards hosted its 15th annual gala in Dubai on December 27.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were passed over for the Ballon d’Or this year but remained in contention alongside the best of the next generation here.

In Ronaldo’s case, his involvement probably has plenty to do with his former agent Jorge Mendes being one of the founders of the awards. Mendes triumphed once again in the Best Agent category, taking home the prize for the 12th time out of the 14 it has been on offer.

Who won the Globe Soccer Awards? Final results

There were 18 finalists for the Best Men’s Player award with 12 in the running for the Best Women’s Player prize.

Ballon d’Or winner Rodri and FIFA Best Men’s Player Vinicius Junior were in contention once again here, but the Real Madrid star took the top prize in Dubai.

Barcelona superstar Aitana Bonmati won the Ballon d’Or Feminin and FIFA Best Women’s Player award and added to her growing number of personal accolades as expected.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was given a career-recognition award that named him “The greatest president of all time”. Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Alessandro Del Piero, Neymar and Thibaut Courtois all received awards that recognised their career-spanning achievements.

Not to be left out of the limelight for too long following a lengthy on-stage interview to begin the ceremony, Cristiano Ronaldo got a special prize to celebrate him becoming the highest official goal-scorer of all time. In 2024, Ronaldo broke through the 900-goal career landmark.

How are the Globe Soccer Awards winners decided?

The winners of the awards were decided by a vote — or, rather, two votes. There was a fan poll that closed on November 25 and a jury vote, which ran from November 28 to December 10.

The nominees with the most votes from global fans proceeded to the second round. At the end of this voting period, the figures with the biggest level of support — the jury’s vote counts for 80% of the final calculation, and the initial public vote the other 20% — will be anointed winners to be announced at the gala on December 27.

However, only eight of the categories are decided in this way. These are:
